Vespine Drakes were released on June 25, 2023, alongside Incense Dragons. They occur in yellow or white colored variants. Both variants can be either cave-born or bred, with the color being randomly determined; however, the white variant is less common. As drakes, they can only breed with other drake breeds and their eggs cannot be bitten by Vampire Dragons.

Official descriptions[]

Egg[]

This smooth egg has dark markings.

Hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby drake. It enjoys nibbling on twigs for some reason.

Mature hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby drake. It enjoys nibbling on twigs for some reason.

And look! It has gotten bigger! It must be close to maturing.

Adult[]

Yellow variant[]

Vespine Drakes live in colonies of up to twenty individuals, all led by a dominant female. They are territorial and mark their boundaries regularly with scents and sometimes by scratching trees or rocks. These drakes are small and individually weak, but when threatened, they emit a sharp scent that alerts the rest of their colony to the danger. The colony will swarm an aggressor all at once and can seriously injure or kill larger drakes and dragons. Although protective of their nests and colony, yellow Vespines allow peaceful travelers to move through their territory so long as they and their nesting area are left alone. Their curious nature will often lead them to follow passersby around, which can be unnerving for those unfamiliar with their behavior. Yellow Vespine nests can be recognized by their distinctive round shape and smooth edges. They are molded from a paste made by the drakes chewing twigs and leaves into a saliva-laced pulp.

White variant[]

Vespine Drakes live in colonies of up to twenty individuals, all led by a dominant female. They are territorial and mark their boundaries regularly with scents and sometimes by scratching trees or rocks. These drakes are small and individually weak, but when threatened, they emit a sharp scent that alerts the rest of their colony to the danger. The colony will swarm an aggressor all at once and can seriously injure or kill larger drakes and dragons. This technique is also used by white Vespines to hunt large prey. Travelers should be wary in areas where white Vespines have been sighted, as wild ones are actively hostile toward anything larger than them and will chase or attack trespassers. White Vespine nests can be recognized by their distinctive oval shape and flared edges. They are molded from a paste made by the drakes chewing twigs and leaves into a saliva-laced pulp.
