  • I can start uploading images if you want, I have most of the "hoard" items saved and ready to go.

      Loading editor
    • The hoard items perhaps don't post yet- we may have problems again with the spriters for releasing images that 'weren't officially released yet'. Let them fully appear on the cave before adding them, but you are most welcome to start adding any pictures I miss! It would be a great help as I don't have as much free time to help with this event :) We're also in need of the new egg's sequence sprites if you are able to get those!

        Loading editor
    • Oh, and so you know for when uploading the new files, each one needs to have {{Copyright}} added to their descriptions, as well as the following categories: Event images, Sprite, Valentine Event Images, Dragon Matchmaking - 2015

        Loading editor
    • I never add images that are not visible in-cave. That's a big no-no on all adoptable sites. The only way to get invisible sprites is to reverse-engineer the site which is not a good thing to do, unless the artists give them but either way.

And yes, sorry, I didn't get to add those details. I was in a rush which was why I didn't add the other hoard images for day 1 at the time.

        Loading editor
    • Also as a PS, you may have already noticed but I add three-letter codes to the hoard items i.e. MAG. This is so we know what category the item was under after the event. Some items like scales are distributed over different categories so it will be confusing after the event when we try and gather the images together.

        Loading editor
    • The only way I know of getting the images is right-clicking them and saving them, but turns out that ends up saving a huge image with all the hoard items on it, that's why I added that bit about only uploading what's been officially released (I'm not sure how you save the images). And that's ok, I know how you feel :P Upload them when you can :)

        Loading editor
    • I just print screen the page they are on and cut them out....

        Loading editor
    • Ah ok, might be easier to save the big picture, cut them all out and then upload to the wiki as they are released? I think that's what Nyastara does.

        Loading editor
    • I guess that is more or less what I do. I print screen, cut all sprites off and save them individually, then go to another page with a sprite or multiple sprites I haven't saved and repeat until I have them all.

PS, I'm going to upload all images first and edit details after, so don't freak out when I upload lots of empty info sprites. It is what I usually do but by the time I've uploaded all the pics either you or nyastara usually starts adding the details so I don't bother.

        Loading editor
    • I guess it is too late now, but you should all make use of the "stacking" categories. You put sprite and event image and valentine event images and all that and really all you have to do is put valentine event image, and under that category put event image and under event image put sprite and you've got all those categories just by putting one.

        Loading editor
    • All the categories are sub-categories of each other: Valentine Event Images is a sub-category of Event Images and Dragon Matchmaking - 2015 is a sub-category of Valentine Event Images. We do this because some people may have different preferences in looking up images: perhaps they want to see all Valentine event images from all events, or want to browse through all Event Images. The Sprites category also has a ton of sub-categories such as egg, egg sequence, hatchling, adults etc.

        Loading editor
    • Well that's what I meant, but if they are sub-categories you shouldn't have to add them all as clicking on each one takes you to the broader category and thus they are already linked to that category.

I guess it does make it more convenient for people if they want to skip straight to Event images for instance.

        Loading editor
    • Putting them in a sub-category doesn't automatically add it to the category that sub-category is a sub to sadly, that's why we have to add them all manually. For example, yes if Image X is placed in sub category Y, sub to category Z, you can get click on Image X, going to sub-cat Y and there get a link to cat Z, but Image X can't be seen in cat Z after that- to browse and find Image X, you need to go to sub-cat Y. (I'm hoping that makes sense? I've been at work for too long x__x ...)

    • I guess it depends what you mean by adding to a category. On the near 5 or so wikis I've dealt with, we usually add pages to the most specific category possible (Category D). In that category, we link it to a less specific Category C, and then B, followed by an all-encompassing Category A.

Though it is true that technically this page is not part of Category C, B or A, it is linked to a category that is and thus for me that was enough to make it part of all four categories.

On here you take the more specific approach and immediately add A, B, C and D to the page itself. Different people have different preferences on the subject, but I've never seen it done the way you do it here before. Nothing wrong with it, just a different way of doing things.

    • Just as a future ref all images are uploaded and categorized and copyrighted except for the Shiny hoard items.

I've reset cache and stuff so categories should be easier. It used to stop me adding more than one category at once which made anything take ages, but I think its working for now. I'll try and get shiny up soon, I have the whole page saved so no problem if the event finishes.

        Loading editor
    • Yup, I've added most of them in to the article, I'm currently adding in the misc items now. Send me another message when all the shinies are uploaded and done and I'll add them in too and hopefully by that point, I'll have a reply for the event co-ords about adding credits for the event & sprites ;) Keep up the amazing work Taliseth, thanks so much for it <33 If the categories are still giving you grief just let me know and I'll add them in instead!

        Loading editor
    • Omg I just realised that you named the Misc item daisy with the scientific Asteracae family name <3 You are very awesome indeed :)

        Loading editor
    • Yeah I wasn't entirely sure what sort it was so if in doubt, go with the family name!

Glad I could help. I'll let you know when shinies are up, but they will spam Special:RecentChanges when I upload them so they will probably be hard to miss!

    • I've talked to people and they say an artist credits edit will be made to the news thread soon. The large jewels/gems are exact duplicates of each other except one is flipped and one isn't; since these are exactly the same sprites, do you still want both uploaded?

The rings will need to be replaced as I do not have transparency saved on my versions. I've also managed to cut off a row of shinies, including the coins (not the two silver coins), the gold necklace/pendant with the single blue stone and silver dragon scales. Just so you are aware.

You will have to excuse the recentchanges spam too. I tried another method of uploading through multiupload where I add categories and copyright template into the descriptions, but it kept crashing. In the end it's reuploaded some images multiple times and left some without creation pages. I'm taking care of it though.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah I've been in contact with someone from the event myself so don't worry about that :) And yes, despite being flipped duplicates we really should include them.

That's ok, I'll get to sorting out everything and the Currently Being Released article too after work today! :)

    • Hold off on uploading any more hoard sprite images for the time being- I'm just going through and checking to see which ones are missing (I think there were some that were on the site but didn't appear in the event).

Edit: Done- all images from the event should now be on the page :) Just waiting on credits now and for the Spriter's Alts from Aangs-sister~

    • Sounds good! I'm quite sure I only missed 5, those being coins, silver scales, pendant and 2 orb colours. Hopefully I didn't miss any others or I wasn't doing my job! There may have been some which didn't upload in between all the upload crashes I encountered (for instance I can't find the dragonfly or 2 of the copper scales anywhere). I'd offer to upload them but you got that covered so I'll leave you to it.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah I thought you might have had some issues with the uploading bit. Honestly though, it was still a massive help to have you upload so many pictures, thanks so much for that! :D I'll be in contact with you soon again about formatting ideas for encyclopedia entries once all this event stuff is done~

    • Quite welcome, and sure I'm generally always around.

I think wikia was doing a cache/memory maintenance. I have not encountered such problems in over 10 years of editing on wikis. Some images would be uploaded but not be "created", so the image existed but when you went to the link it would show the sprite as normal but where the description and image history tabs usually are it just showed nothing but the link "This page does not exist. Create it?".

Then there were times where it would just crash and give an error page, but upload half of the images. Some of these images would completely disappear a few minutes later, and some would reappear.

All in all very interesting, not sure what was going on but I think its a freak occurrence.

    • Yeah that does sound very strange, I've never had something like that happen to me before o__o

I've had similar instances before and the staff told me it was short-term maintenance and cache problems. The behaviour of the instances was similar albeit far more extreme to my previous experience with wikia and website storage data so I believe this had something to do with it....

For instance I definitely uploaded both sides of all of those gems at least once, but you've had to upload about 5 of them.

    • I'm quite sure the dragonfly was under Shiny by the way. It was not on the meat page. Any items I missed were purely Shiny items, I made sure I documented all other categories before hand.

        Loading editor
    • The dragonfly is under Shiny :) There were some from sweets that we both missed actually, I don't think they were on the site but the artists released it in the final credits section anyway. It was 2 sets of grapes and a garlic braid- they weren't included in the site's main image which showed all the hoard items which is what makes me think they were made but not used.

        Loading editor
    • I thought you had dragonfly labelled as meat on the image file.

There was no garlic visible on the site. The only grapes visible on-site were a bunch of green and a bunch of purple.

EDIT: Ah I see there were two grape sprites for each colour as you say. I still have the screencap of sweets and it isn't listed (nor is garlic).

I think we are all done with this event then finally?

        Loading editor
    • Yeah I did originally, then I realised it was meant to be a shiny so I changed it shortly after :P

Yup, that's why I think it was made but not released on the site, but seeing as it was included on the credits list, I added it in. And yes, the event's all done, just waiting on spriter's alts to be sent from Aangs-sister. I saw she put the egg in her forum siggy- it's looking to have a red & black colour scheme, very excited to see it!!
