2015 Trick or Treat

Was I ok to add my treats that I found straight into the same gallery with the others? I'm new to this, so just correct me if it was wrong. It says "As they appear in the pumpkin bucket" so is the order important? I don't have enough yet to know where they should go relative to the others, I just put them on the end. ElpuntThing (talk) 10:59, October 25, 2015 (UTC)

2016 FoE Event

Concerning the 2016 Festival of Eggs:

Can we fix the filenames of some of the Undertale eggs?

"Knight egg" is an Undyne egg, "Robot2 Egg" is Mettaton, "Horn Egg" is Asgore, "XZOB" is Toriel, "Floating Egg" is Asriel, "Blue Egg" is Frisk, "Green Stripe Egg" is Chara, "Ribbon egg" is Papyrus, and "Hearts Egg" is the 7 human SOULs. The only one that's named correctly is the Sans egg and that's because it LITERALLY HAS SANS WRITTEN ON IT.

oh and while we're at it the "plushie egg" is one of terezi's scalemates and i can almost guarantee it was made by that one spriter who's into homestuck and made the pyralspite dragon kthxbai

Hi there! I don't particularly appreciate the tone with which you are approaching the situation- asking nicely works a lot better than typing in all caps and insinuating that the user(s) who uploaded the named images are stupid.

The reason why I, and others, never bother with correct file names at this stage is because once all the eggs are released and their basket order finalised, they will be renamed to contain the number they fall as in the basket (as well as having the date and FoE prefix added). So the names really don't matter, hence why some eggs still even have the code they came with on-site.

Once the event is over, the spriters generally reveal what each egg was meant to represent (if anything), and this gets added to the trivia section of the article.

Cracking Egg Sprites

Here are the drake cracking stages it won't let me add to the lineups.

Both .png originally (imgur changes it, though) so not sure where the error is. The rest of my pngs uploaded just fine.

Looks like someone else got them instead :) Not sure why this error keeps coming up for you, it did for someone else on the forums too. That said, I get other connection-type errors with certain things, and another user is getting other issues as well. We assume it's something to do with Wikia themselves as they've been working on some new things lately. Alternatively, check what name you're adding to the file, as it might not be letting you due to a duplicate name (usually it tells you that, but recently it hasn't been telling about duplicates either, so could be this...).

Dragon Types Article

So, I have a small question: The rules state that the currently being released dragons should not be added to the dragon types list. Now that's fine I can see why but what determines WHEN they can be added to that list? Just curious ^^ Tautropfen 18:11, May 27, 2016 (UTC)

Waiting a few days after the hatchlings of users begin to grow up is a good indicator. To be fair, it's flexible because different releases have different conditions. For example, Holidays may take longer or shorter depending on how fast the spriters get their alts and when they're willing to share that with us, plus we don't have to wait to try and figure out how rare they will be. Regular releases we try and wait to see how rare they are and give the artists time to share extra info on their breed, and the article(s) are usually made a few days after the event thread is closed by mods on the forum.

Again though, this recent event is a special one with special circumstances surrounding the wiki- I was just about to initiate a site-wide overhaul to dragon articles using the bot just when this event occurred, so I'm holding off adding things to articles so I can perform the overhaul and then add the new changes on top of that (otherwise the bot will override the new stuff). If in doubt it's always best to ask; staff try to add new dragons the wiki themselves as people don't realise just how many pages on the wiki need to be changed when there's a new release.

Edit: Forgot to mention as well that there's a lot of background processes the admins need to do with the files and data before they can be added to articles that regular users don't realise. We call it "processing the data", which involves renaming files to their correct breed names/fit the naming scheme, add file categories and make sure they all have their correct licensing. This is the main reason we use the CBR article to 'store' new info as it comes in, so that we don't accidentally miss any files out during this processing step. The last two steps, many users help us with, but only staff can rename files.

Not spelled that way?

There's a sic on the page about the ancient egg hatchlings.

It says:  And look! It&rsuo;s [sic] developed a sharp, bony crest on its snout. It must be close to maturing."

When TJ's hatchling description says: And look! It’s developed a sharp, bony crest on its snout. It must be close to maturing.

Now I don't have one myself to check, but this seems pretty clear that the "spelling error intentionally copied from the game" is not actually intentionally copied from the game but a holdover from somebody making a mistake somewhere else and preserving it here. Vain.3805Talk Contributions 02:12, November 29, 2016 (UTC)

Never assume ;) During the initial release, this was a genuine glitch in the description (not the first time this has happened). I wasn't sure when it was going to get fixed (there are still errors in some dragon breed descriptions that are still around!), it had been around for at least a day because it was still there even when TJ's hatchlings had matured.

Valkemarian Tales - Festive Expeditions (Rewards)

From what I've seen, each person receives different rewards for each quest. Does it make sense to include the rewards after each quest or would it be better to just make a table of all possible rewards in a separate section? Otherwise people might be confused when they see the rewards after each quest and wonder why they didn't receive those. TJScalzo (talk) 14:25, December 25, 2016 (UTC)

Ahh, I didn't know they got different rewards, thanks for that! I'll note at the end how many rewards are given and then yes, I agree we could add a list elsewhere of all the possible rewards. Thanks again!!

Valkemarian Tales - Festive Expeditions (Quest titles)

I have another question: Why are the quests' titles in boxes like their dialogue? Wouldn't we want the titles to be bigger and/or bolder than their content? I'm sure there's a reason, it just looks odd to me. TJScalzo (talk) 00:04, December 26, 2016 (UTC)

Ahh, they're just title boxes, the quests are meant to be divided by horizontal lines. I think because you use a different editor that's not the Source code editor, it didn't like the way I coded things and shuffled it around, which has happened before. I noticed this but didn't think it had removed the horizontal lines! I've gone through and condensed everything- it'll be a bit harder for anyone else using Source mode but at least it all works now and it shouldn't try to correct it anymore. Wikia editors :/

The lines weren't really what I was talking about. I meant the fact that the title box and the quote box look very similar.

See how the title box and the quote box both have a light background, are both indented? There's very little that shows the title box is actually a title and not another quote. Wouldn't it be better like below?

Ah, they are meant to be similar, one just being smaller than the other (that being the distinguishing feature). Without the box, the title gets lost in the main body of text. I do like the idea of the arrow as you suggest, particularly as I'm looking to include starting locations for the side-quests in their title as this is often asked on the news release thread. I'll give it a tinker again, let me know what you think with the arrow. p.s. I think this feature should be available to you- if you want to upload an updated version of any file on the wiki, head to its File: page, click on the dropdown icon by the edit button and select "Replace". So long as your new file has the same file extension, it will replace that image with your new one ;)

Valkemarian Tales - Festive Expeditions (Thalassians)

Sorry about adding the Thalassians' dialogue again, I didn't see it. However, I'm pretty sure I remember seeing and interacting with them on the first day. They may not have been there at the beginnning, but they showed up before day 2 started. Should that be changed or would it be best kept as it is? TJScalzo (talk) 04:16, December 27, 2016 (UTC)
