Birthday release extra info
Was I ok to add my treats that I found straight into the same gallery with the others? I'm new to this, so just correct me if it was wrong. It says "As they appear in the pumpkin bucket" so is the order important? I don't have enough yet to know where they should go relative to the others, I just put them on the end. ElpuntThing (talk) 10:59, October 25, 2015 (UTC)

"Knight egg" is an Undyne egg, "Robot2 Egg" is Mettaton, "Horn Egg" is Asgore, "XZOB" is Toriel, "Floating Egg" is Asriel, "Blue Egg" is Frisk, "Green Stripe Egg" is Chara, "Ribbon egg" is Papyrus, and "Hearts Egg" is the 7 human SOULs. The only one that's named correctly is the Sans egg and that's because it LITERALLY HAS SANS WRITTEN ON IT.

I just realized!
:Hi there! I don't particularly appreciate the tone with which you are approaching the situation- asking nicely works a lot better than typing in all caps and insinuating that the user(s) who uploaded the named images are stupid.

:The reason why I, and others, never bother with correct file names at this stage is because once all the eggs are released and their basket order finalised, they will be renamed to contain the number they fall as in the basket (as well as having the date and FoE prefix added). So the names really don't matter, hence why some eggs still even have the code they came with on-site.

:Once the event is over, the spriters generally reveal what each egg was meant to represent (if anything), and this gets added to the trivia section of the article.

Valentine 2020 dragons change colors as they get views! Because of this, I think they’re mood ring themed. It makes perfect sense as mood rings have almost the exact same colors!

:Looks like someone else got them instead :) Not sure why this error keeps coming up for you, it did for someone else on the forums too. That said, I get other connection-type errors with certain things, and another user is getting other issues as well. We assume it's something to do with Wikia themselves as they've been working on some new things lately. Alternatively, check what name you're adding to the file, as it might not be letting you due to a duplicate name (usually it tells you that, but recently it hasn't been telling about duplicates either, so could be this...).

Dragon Types Article
So, I have a small question: The rules state that the currently being released dragons should not be added to the dragon types list. Now that's fine I can see why but what determines WHEN they can be added to that list? Just curious ^^ Tautropfen 18:11, May 27, 2016 (UTC)

:Waiting a few days after the hatchlings of users begin to grow up is a good indicator. To be fair, it's flexible because different releases have different conditions. For example, Holidays may take longer or shorter depending on how fast the spriters get their alts and when they're willing to share that with us, plus we don't have to wait to try and figure out how rare they will be. Regular releases we try and wait to see how rare they are and give the artists time to share extra info on their breed, and the article(s) are usually made a few days after the event thread is closed by mods on the forum.

:Again though, this recent event is a special one with special circumstances surrounding the wiki- I was just about to initiate a site-wide overhaul to dragon articles using the bot just when this event occurred, so I'm holding off adding things to articles so I can perform the overhaul and then add the new changes on top of that (otherwise the bot will override the new stuff). If in doubt it's always best to ask; staff try to add new dragons the wiki themselves as people don't realise just how many pages on the wiki need to be changed when there's a new release.

:Edit: Forgot to mention as well that there's a lot of background processes the admins need to do with the files and data before they can be added to articles that regular users don't realise. We call it "processing the data", which involves renaming files to their correct breed names/fit the naming scheme, add file categories and make sure they all have their correct licensing. This is the main reason we use the CBR article to 'store' new info as it comes in, so that we don't accidentally miss any files out during this processing step. The last two steps, many users help us with, but only staff can rename files.

Not spelled that way?
There's a sic on the page about the ancient egg hatchlings.

It says:

And look! <span style="cursor:help;" title="Do not change this to It's. This misspelled word is how it appears in-cave or as directly quoted from artists or staff."><span style="border-bottom:1pxdottedrgb(0,0,0);">It&rsuo;s</span> sic</span> developed a sharp, bony crest on its snout. It must be close to maturing."

When TJ's hatchling description says: <span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:"PTSerif","TimesNewRoman",Times,serif;font-size:14px;font-weight:normal;text-indent:14px;">And look! It’s developed a sharp, bony crest on its snout. It must be close to maturing.</span>

Now I don't have one myself to check, but this seems pretty clear that the "spelling error intentionally copied from the game" is not actually intentionally copied from the game but a holdover from somebody making a mistake somewhere else and preserving it here. 02:12, November 29, 2016 (UTC)

:Never assume ;) During the initial release, this was a genuine glitch in the description (not the first time this has happened). I wasn't sure when it was going to get fixed (there are still errors in some dragon breed descriptions that are still around!), it had been around for at least a day because it was still there even when TJ's hatchlings had matured.

Valkemarian Tales - Festive Expeditions (Rewards)
From what I've seen, each person receives different rewards for each quest. Does it make sense to include the rewards after each quest or would it be better to just make a table of all possible rewards in a separate section? Otherwise people might be confused when they see the rewards after each quest and wonder why they didn't receive those. TJScalzo (talk) 14:25, December 25, 2016 (UTC)

:Ahh, I didn't know they got different rewards, thanks for that! I'll note at the end how many rewards are given and then yes, I agree we could add a list elsewhere of all the possible rewards. Thanks again!!

:::::Sorry to hear about that, Wikia is designed so that if 2 or more people are editing the same article at the same time, edits can't be saved over each other in order to prevent each person's work being overwritten by the other. It's a safety mechanism that's across all wikis, sorry for any confusion. Thanks for the screenshot, we'll be sure to add those items in for you, thanks so much for the help!

::::: -- { 12:36, December 27, 2016 (UTC) }

:::::Well, this time I was slightly smarter: I made a list before trying to attempt an edit. Screenshot of proof is linked in edit reason. What is to do about the "Toy thisandthat" items that seem to have been turned into "Miscellaneous thisandthat Plush", and the "Blackstipe" things which seem to have been corrected to "Blackstripe" things now? Other things are still misspelled (see "Purple & Gold Rug (Small)" next to "Purplegold Rug (Large)", and then there are the "Ice" items which are all over the place - should the wiki just list them alphabetically, too, like the "Cream" things? The "Rredshag Small Rug" was simply deleted, by the way. No replacement, needs to be earned again. -- Helge Nug (talk) 23:54, January 1, 2017 (UTC)

:Glad it worked out this time! :) The "Toys" items can be removed if people feel that's best to do- I've already added to the Trivia section that they got removed from the game. Alternatively, people are welcome to just add (Removed) to the end instead. Anything that has had its spelling corrected in-game can have the spelling corrected here as well. And yes, it's probably easier if we just stick to alphabetical order, makes it easier for people to find particular items.

Valkemarian Tales - Festive Expeditions (Quest titles)
I have another question: Why are the quests' titles in boxes like their dialogue? Wouldn't we want the titles to be bigger and/or bolder than their content? I'm sure there's a reason, it just looks odd to me. TJScalzo (talk) 00:04, December 26, 2016 (UTC)

:Ahh, they're just title boxes, the quests are meant to be divided by horizontal lines. I think because you use a different editor that's not the Source code editor, it didn't like the way I coded things and shuffled it around, which has happened before. I noticed this but didn't think it had removed the horizontal lines! I've gone through and condensed everything- it'll be a bit harder for anyone else using Source mode but at least it all works now and it shouldn't try to correct it anymore. Wikia editors :/

: -- { 01:02, December 26, 2016 (UTC) }

::The lines weren't really what I was talking about. I meant the fact that the title box and the quote box look very similar.

::See how the title box and the quote box both have a light background, are both indented? There's very little that shows the title box is actually a title and not another quote. Wouldn't it be better like below?

::To me that makes more sense visually. But I'm not sure if it makes sense with the way the wiki's titles are normally done. TJScalzo (talk) 01:57, December 26, 2016 (UTC)

:::Ah, they are meant to be similar, one just being smaller than the other (that being the distinguishing feature). Without the box, the title gets lost in the main body of text. I do like the idea of the arrow as you suggest, particularly as I'm looking to include starting locations for the side-quests in their title as this is often asked on the news release thread. I'll give it a tinker again, let me know what you think with the arrow. p.s. I think this feature should be available to you- if you want to upload an updated version of any file on the wiki, head to its File: page, click on the dropdown icon by the edit button and select "Replace". So long as your new file has the same file extension, it will replace that image with your new one ;)

Valkemarian Tales - Festive Expeditions (Thalassians)
Sorry about adding the Thalassians' dialogue again, I didn't see it. However, I'm pretty sure I remember seeing and interacting with them on the first day. They may not have been there at the beginnning, but they showed up before day 2 started. Should that be changed or would it be best kept as it is? TJScalzo (talk) 04:16, December 27, 2016 (UTC)

:That would have been the same deal as the updates done for Day 2- they were all done just a few hours before midnight actually rolled around. I've got a link to Birdz's quote on the forum where they announced the day 2 updates, though it was a bit ambiguous as to whether it was day 2 or not. Most on the forum seem to take it as day 2 just came a little early, so I rolled with that. Are you on the forums by the way? Flick me a PM if you are- I'm under the same name as here :)

Valkemarian Tales - Festive Expeditions (Galys/Gladys)
On day 2 the character Gladys was added as a possible recipient of the package in the Parcel Delivery side-quest. On day 3, the character's name was changed to Galys. When delivering my package to her she said something different than what is stated in the quest's dialogue in day 1. What I'm unsure of is if the new dialogue and character should be added into day 1 or the day it relates to. Like, Day Two would have "Side-Quest: Parcel Delivery (Day 2)" with Gladys as a recipient with her own dialogue; and Day Three would have "Side-Quest: Parcel Delivery (Day 3)" with Galys as a recipient with her own dialogue. Or should Day One's side-quest just be updated to the current information? TJScalzo (talk) 07:57, December 27, 2016 (UTC)

:If Gladys/Galys had different dialogue, it would have been changed since Day 2- I'll take a look in-game because I think I got her for my quest today. If that is the case, the new dialogue will be added to Day 2- we already explain at the start of Day 3 that her name changed, as well as in the Trivia section, so I don't think we need the dialogue added as well for just the name change. Those of us here for Jolly Follies last year know that her name was originally Gladys but due to the character restriction, it was changed to Galys.

: -- { 12:08, December 27, 2016 (UTC) }

:Got it. I was around for Jolly Follies but I forgot that Gladys/Galys was in it. I just assumed the name limit was why her name changed, not because of last year. Either way, the trivia and the quotes are being/have been handled. I'm glad you're so forgiving about my blunders.

:(Like half the article getting deleted. I have no idea how or why that happened. But it happened when I was editing so I apologize. Hopefully it wasn't too much trouble to fix.)

::That I know wasn't your fault, it was the editor for sure :/ I've seen other experienced editors page blank articles because of the editor and get in trouble till it became a reported bug (it primarily affected those using the Visual Editor). Should have been fixed a long time ago but guess it's still around. I highly recommend trying out Source mode- all the code for everything is already on the page so it's just a case of copying and pasting here :)

2017 Valentine's Event
Is there a reason the valentine's event shown on the page doesn't have all the available choices?  It's not a day by day event from what I can tell but is all completable in one sitting. 19:32, February 14, 2017 (UTC)

:The people who normally update the Currently Being Released page (Bluesonic1 and I) are human beings. I'm very busy this week and, while I can't speak for Bluesonic, it's possible they're busy too. The choices don't get added unless someone has the time to sit down and spend time recording all of the different options and choices that can be made. :: TJScalzo explains the situation very well, I'm currently moving house at the moment and trying to arrange with the event co-ordinators to get a transcript of the event. == 2017 FoE Event ==

Hi,

<br/>As someone who wasn't online for last year's Festival of Eggs, I'm a little bit unsure of the protocol. I notice that all of the sprites have been added with descriptive names and are placed in some sort of order. The title on the pages says "Eggs As They Appear In Baskets" but I can see that they aren't in the order they appear in baskets. Is that something that could/should be fixed now? Or should it wait until all of the files get renamed and this event gets moved to its own page?

<br/>Thanks, TJScalzo (talk) 02:24, April 17, 2017 (UTC)

:We literally just finished collecting all the eggs, I'm just re-ordering them now myself. You can't order the eggs until all have been collected, and someone collects them all on their account so we can see their basket order. Those aren't "descriptive names", they're just not number serials so it makes it easier to re-order and then rename. I avoid giving them descriptive names relative to their references as there was a year where several artists got angry at me for getting their references wrong despite the fact that the names are temporary. They will all be renamed once the event is finished due to new eggs usually getting added during the event (as we currently saw); renaming files at the end of an event, not during, is standard practice.

:Edit: Also, please don't add egg explanations in when they're only half given- at the end of the event, artist's will make a post on the thread explaining all their eggs. I only added the other 2 as for their own reasons, they decided to elaborate before the end of the event.

After last year's incident with file names and certain spriters, I just assumed people were in a hurry to get these renamed and processed as well. Sorry again for the confusion!

Potential Carinae Sprite Update
So it seems there's been some negative feedback about the Carinae. People are saying the sprites are too busy or they can't see enough of the wings or something along those lines. Anyway, PieMaster posted that they're going to work with Playdoh to update the sprites. PieMaster also posted to reassure they're not getting rid of the flames completely.

<br />Basically, I'm wondering if this should be put into the article or if we should wait until the changes go live.

TJScalzo (talk) 03:19, September 4, 2017 (UTC)

: Yeah I'm aware that Pie has said they and Playdoh will be updating the sprites. Seeing as there hasn't been any time frame given, I think we'll be better off following the usual procedure and then just updating the sprites when released as we've done for past breeds (recently being Mistletoe Dragon). PieMaster generally PM's me on the forum when sprites get updated, so they'll let us know once it's ready to be released on the site. It's possible they might be updated before the articles are made, in which case they can just be added here as usual (for "update" examples, you can look back into the History for the Soulstone Dragon release).
