Egg hatches into a Sunbeam if it's cave-created or bred between 6:00 EST and 17:59 EST.

Sunbeam Drakes (previously Day Glory Drakes) were released on May 26, 2010, alongside Moonglow Drakes, Terrae Dragons, and Shallow Water Dragons. Like all drakes, they can only breed with drake breeds, and their eggs cannot be bitten by Vampire Dragons.

Sunbeams share the same egg as Moonglows. If the egg is bred, bought, or caught from the Forest between 6:00 EST and 17:59 EST, will hatch into a Sunbeam.

Adult

Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Trivia

• On May 21, 2016, Sunbeam Drakes received a major update to their egg sprites, as part of Dragon Cave's 10th Birthday. All drake eggs now use a smaller egg template than the standard dragon egg, reflecting the fact that drakes are smaller breeds (though larger than pygmies).

Breed replacement

The Sunbeam Drake replaced the Day Glory Drake on May 8, 2021. Citing detestable and discriminatory views and conduct by the original artist, Dragon Cave removed all dragon breeds created by the artist and replaced them with new concepts and art. A total of 10 breeds were replaced in this update. An official statement by site administrator TJ09 can be found on the forums.
