Nebula Dragons were released on the April 1st, 2010, alongside Bright-Breasted Wyverns, Hellfire Wyverns and Sunsong Amphipteres. Exactly one year later, on the 1st of April 2011, a second set of Nebula dragons were released to celebrate their anniversary.

While the second set of sprites are not considered Alts by site standards, they function using a similar mechanism. The second set of sprites act as a variation of the first, with the different colours corresponding to a particular gender. All colours can be obtained by catching them in the cave or through breeding, and are all equal to each other with regards to rarity.

Official Dragon Descriptions

Egg

"This egg has a brilliant radiance coming off of it."

Hatchling

"Aww... It's a cute baby dragon. Despite being as black as outer space, it has a few bright patterns on it."

Mature Hatchling

"Aww... It's a cute baby dragon. Despite being as black as outer space, it has a few bright patterns on it.
And look! It's grown wings and its scales have gained beautiful patterns on it. It must be close to maturing."

Adult

"Nebula dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into outer space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula dragons will be exactly the same."

Trivia

  • Skinst revealed on CaveCast that Nebula dragons actually form their patterns in a process very similar to photosynthesis- they are said to literally absorb light from sources in the night sky, and replicate the patterns upon their skin.

Additional Information

  • Regarding the Nebula's creation credits:
I did the sketches, Skinst did lines, I did black shading, Skinst did the nebula/star shading. Rosella helped with a few fixes on the male.
