Nebula Dragon

Nebula Female
Release date April 1st, 2010
Rarity Uncommon
Color Black with bright patterns
Nicknames Nebbie, Star
Habitat Alpine, Desert

Nebula Dragons were released on the 1st of April 2010 alongside Bright-Breasted Wyverns, Hellfire Wyverns and Sunsong Amphipteres. They currently have no breed specific action and are generally one of the more popular breeds, classified as uncommon.

Exactly one year later on the 1st of April 2011, a second set of Nebula dragons were released to celebrate their anniversary. Those new sprites are as a matter of fact not considered as "Alts" by site standard. They are just a second variation of the "normal" purple and blue sprites (just like the red Dorsal Dragon, the tan Ridgewing Dragon or the different colored Striped Dragons). They can be obtained by catching them in the cave or through breeding.

An interesting fact revealed about the species by Skinst on CaveCast is that Nebula dragons actually form their patterns in a process very similar to photosynthesis. They are said to literally absorb light from sources in the night sky, and replicate the patterns upon their skin!

Official Dragon Description

Egg

"This egg has a brilliant radiance coming off of it."

Hatchling

"Aww... It's a cute baby dragon. Despite being as black as outer space, it has a few bright patterns on it."

Mature Hatchling

"Aww... It's a cute baby dragon. Despite being as black as outer space, it has a few bright patterns on it. And look! It's grown wings and its scales have gained beautiful patterns on it. It must be close to maturing."

Adult

"Nebula dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into outer space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula dragons will be exactly the same."

Notes

  • The Nebula dragon doesn't have front legs, technically making it a wyvern.
  • Nebula dragons may have been added to the Alpine biome. At least one has been found there as of February 2013 and another in June 2013.
