Dragon Cave Wiki

Egg hatches into a Moonglow if it's cave-created or bred between 18:00 EST and 5:59 EST.

Moonglow Drakes (previously Night Glory Drakes) were released on May 26, 2010, alongside Sunbeam Drakes, Terrae Dragons and Shallow Water Dragons. As drakes, they can only breed with other drake breeds, and their eggs cannot be bitten by Vampire Dragons.

Moonglows share the same egg as Sunbeams. If the egg is bred, bought, or caught from the Forest between 18:00 EST and 5:59 EST, will hatch into a Moonglow Drake.

Official descriptions[]

This egg displays the colors of both dawn and dusk.

Aww... It's a cute baby drake. Its dark colors resemble the night.

Mature hatchling[]

Aww... It's a cute baby drake. Its dark colors resemble the night.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

As the nocturnal relative to Sunbeam Drakes, Moonglow Drakes are a secretive breed most active under the light of the moons and stars. They are wary of others, but are known to have incredible loyalty should their trust be won. Catching sight of Moonglow Drakes as they dance amid the moonlight is seen as a favorable omen by those they live near, and tamed individuals are common. They are slightly smaller than their cousins, averaging around the size of a cat.

  • On May 21, 2016, Moonglow Drakes received a major update to their egg sprites, as part of Dragon Cave's 10th Birthday; all drakes on the site when this event occurred received the same downsizing update. This update was done so that the sprites better fit the breed's description of having slightly smaller eggs than those of standard dragons.

Breed replacement[]

Night Glory retired concept

Night Glory Drakes as they appeared in the Encyclopedia, prior to replacement.

The Moonglow Drake replaced the Night Glory Drake on May 8, 2021. Citing detestable and discriminatory views and conduct by the original artist, Dragon Cave removed all dragon breeds created by the artist and replaced them with new concepts and art. A total of 10 breeds were replaced in this update. An official statement by site administrator TJ09 can be found on the forums.
