Official descriptions[]

Egg[]

You hear a soft melody as you approach this egg.

Hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It loves to sing from high tree branches.

Mature hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It loves to sing from high tree branches.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Adult[]

Found along the coast and in nests high above the ground, Mistra Dragons are respected for their gentle nature. They are known to adopt any abandoned eggs or hatchlings that they find and raise them as their own, singing softly to lull their young into a deep sleep. As a result of their close relationships with their families, Mistra Dragons tend to live in large, close groups. They use their large numbers to their advantage for many things, including putting on shows (of sorts) and frightening predators away from their nests.

Appearance/Basic Anatomy

  • Have membranous wings with feathers and thin, flexible bodies that allow them to squeeze through small spaces.
  • Don’t depend on their wings for flight as they mainly use magic.
  • Long tails, almost the length of their body, with a tuft of soft hair at the end.
  • Females have a vibrant purple plumage with a pale blue underbelly, are considerably smaller than the males and have shorter head frills.
  • Male Mistra Dragons are a deep blue while the feathers on their underbelly are jade. Their wings are larger than a female’s.
  • In the early spring, young males will flaunt their colors and show off their aerial grace in hopes of attracting a mate.
  • Hatch with small wings. Their vibrant feathers and tail hair do not fully grow in until they are close to adulthood.

Hatchling Behavior

  • Very playful.
  • Begin to whistle and chirp by the time they hatch.
  • Love to climb.
  • Incapable of using magic.
  • Will socialize often, forming connections that will help them join familiar groups as adults.

Adult Behavior

  • Can communicate through a series of chirps and trills, which is very useful when hunting on new land.
  • Will adopt abandoned eggs and hatchlings.
  • Live in groups of eight to twelve individuals.
  • Have an incredibly peaceful nature.
  • Each dragon creates a unique song as it grows, which is then used to attract a mate and to communicate with other dragons.
  • Not territorial, but will become more alert when other species settle nearby. They relax if the other group appears to be kind and therefore not a threat.

Habitat

  • Adults hide their light, glassy eggs in nests close to the tops of trees so the eggs can be warmed by the sunlight while they are away.

Diet

  • Females tend to do the majority of the hunting while males care for the young. This is because the females are able to use their smaller size as an advantage.
  • Will only hunt in the early morning when other creatures are still asleep, due to their bright colors making it nearly impossible to hide from predators in broad daylight.
  • Will group together and taunt prey with various sounds, tricking it into running right into the trap.
  • Prefer fish and small animals, such as rabbits, but will also eat vegetation if there is not another source of nutrition available.
