Misfit Pygmies were released on May 21, 2011 for Dragon Cave's 5th Anniversary, alongside Crimson Flare, Dark Myst, Nilia and Seawyrm Pygmies.
Like all pygmies, their eggs cannot be bitten by Vampire Dragons and they can only breed with other pygmies or Pumpkin Dragons. Under the old Breed sort, these dragons sorted as "Pygmy-Misfit" on a user's scroll. As of August 14, 2016, they now sort using their Encyclopedia name.

"Misfit Pygmies are brightly-colored dragons who love to make life miserable for other creatures. When several Misfits group together, it is certain that there is mischief afoot. They do everything they can to tease, causing general mayhem for all. Misfit Dragons will steal food from beneath other dragons' noses both for fun, and to fill their bellies. While they are known for their tricks and pranks, they have a rarely-displayed sweet side and will search out little treasures to present to their chosen mate."
