  • Hi, you've been a fantastic editor during the time I've been here and due to real life complications as well as other things, I'm having to take a step back from the wiki and DC in general. I've sent this message to select other users to help bring together a team of some kind, that way you guys don't have to do this alone. Would you be interested in getting more involved with the wiki?

  • Hi! I can see you're collecting up info on the event- words cannot express my gratitude to have your help during this event, thank you. If there's anything I can help with specifically, please don't hesitate to let me know. Big thanks again <3

    • I have the remaining egg sprites besides the dead one but the wiki won't take them. They are .gif images and the wiki says "file type verification error" when I upload. The DC dragon files always have this issue. Got them working but one of the eggs uploaded by a previous user was mislabelled, so they need to be renamed. "1 b" is stage 1, and "1" is stage 2.

      edit: got the dead egg.

    • Ah, I've had that issue before- copy the file and on the copy, change the .gif to .png. Your computer will give you a warning but you can ignore that, and then upload the .png version. Somehow this has worked for me, don't know why but yeah.

That's brilliant, the page looks amazing, thanks so much again! Don't worry about file names as I have a script now that can be run through the bot that makes file renaming quick so it's not an issue anymore :)

  • It'll be almost a year now since the encyclopedia was released and the wiki still has not added said information. I left the notice with MD and Nyastara but neither are answering me anymore (or in Nyastara's case, never)- I really want to move forward with this project so it looks like it's going to be you and me on this.

I saw you did the changes to the habitats section- works great, but it doesn't allow for extra text to be added alongside the habitat to specify which form is found in which habitat (I was thinking small sized font like the hover-over text but without the underline). This is not information that we're moving elsewhere into the article, it's vital stuff that needs to go in the infobox. I get the infobox has its restrictions, so please tell me if this is possible and if it's not, that's ok, we'll just go for manual category linking. Also let me know if you wish to help out when this is all ready to be rolled out on the wiki- please don't feel obligated, your work on the infoboxes has been of enormous help already :)

Edit: I did some more testing after you mentioned about the hover-over bubble of text being cut off by the screen and such and it's not issue at all. If it gets cut on the right side, it displays to the left. And if you make the browser screen width less than the wiki's page width, the box just goes past the browser window. This effect scales with monitor resolution, so the box will never be cut off :)

    • Yes, my idea is that the first category will be temporary; once all of them have been done, it won't be used anymore until a new batch are released on-site and we need to catch up :) And yes, HEAPS of dragons are missing their elemental affinity, about 1/3 to a half of them (and this is independent of whether they have an encyclopedia entry on the site or not which is weird). So there's definitely a need for it for now; like the first category, it'll eventually not be used once all the info is released by TJ/artists.

    • Ok, all categories are fine to me then. I assumed (wrongly) that all dragons did have an affinity, if nothing then they were defaulted to "neutral'.

  • Heyo,
So I was going through the new infobox to make sure it's ready for implementation as I want to move this project along so the Encylopedia information can be added to the wiki asap. I can see the Spriters section adds the categories to the article automatically, do any of the others have this feature added? Morphology, Elemental Affinity, BSA, and Habitat should all be adding categories. I know this is your project so I don't want to dabble in your work, but if you want/need help let me know! (I've renamed the bar files so that they're formalised now and ready to be used.)

    • Morphology is pretty straight forward, the category lists all the body type categories we have. Note that some dragons fall into more than one category.
    • Elemental Affinity will be a new one, example category name "Death Element Dragons" so they'll follow the scheme of "X Element Dragon". I don't think there's a species that has no affinity... that would be Neutral Element. Let me know if there is though...
    • BSA is a yes or no one, either it doesn't have one or otherwise gets added to "BSA Dragons" category.
    • Habitat, like Morphology, is also straight forward- don't forget options to include "All Habitats" and "No Habitat".

I've knocked out Base Rarity because while trying to explain it, I realised it was extremely complicated and much easier to do by hand. Mostly because there are 3 main categories but several "sub-names" within this, plus Holiday Dragons and Retired ones have their own thing going on. I know the rarity topic opens up a can of worms as it's another area to attend to- I'm working on that at the moment, and if significant changes are made i.e. new categories created, then we can look to updating the infobox in the future, but I don't see it as an issue for right now. </essay> :P

  • To be honest, I don't think it's worth it having screenshots of the different themes up because it's something the users can test out themselves, and the themes will differ slightly from user to user depending on their computer, monitor and browser settings, nor can I find an article to actually add them too- there's no point having random pictures floating around without them being on an article. Any suggestions or is it ok with you that I remove them??

    • I'll add it to that article linked above, because the whole Introduction section needs a thorough cleaning up as there are bits that should be combined into a single article rather than scattered, and make it easier for newbies to the game to find the info they need faster & easier. So yeah, I'll put it there but as I go through that section, it is likely to be moved around to a more appropriate area :) Thanks for adding them though before they disappeared!! I had no idea some were getting removed.

    • My apologies then. When I first started adding your uploaded Mana crystal images, I thought you had uploaded all of them and left the article with them on. I then later saw a crystal on the DC site that wasn't listed on the Wiki event page, which is when I realised there would probably be 3 crystals for each of the Mana types listed in the Mana Alchemy game. I worked out from the ones you had uploaded, checking via the Special:New Files function, and then worked out which ones needed to be uploaded and then uploaded them (you can see this by comparing edit revisions I did on the event page). For some reason, your 3 Life and 2 Lightning pictures didn't come up under Special:New Files, so I apologise for uploading duplicates of them.

If this is such a major issue, Nyastara is welcome to delete the crystals I uploaded and you can upload the files you have instead. I won't be working on the event page anymore for this Wiki and will probably not contribute towards reporting future events on this Wiki either (for reasons completely unrelated to you Taliseth), so you are welcome to take over.

    • I don't want this to spiral into something dramatic. They probably appeared on the next/previous page to the one you were looking, or you were looking either during their deletion (thus only 1 or 2 would be left) or some such reason. Either way I don't blame you for it, and nor does it matter at all.

I don't really have any interest in "uploader credit" so they can stay as they are. Wikis are community projects so as long as we get the correct sprite in place, regardless of who uploaded it, there shouldn't be aproblem.
