Official descriptions[]

Egg[]

This glowing egg seems to tug at your very core.

Hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. When you meet its eyes, you get the feeling it’s staring straight into your soul.

Mature hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. When you meet its eyes, you get the feeling it’s staring straight into your soul.

And look! It has gotten bigger! It must be close to maturing.

Adult[]

Lihnseyre Dragons are innately in tune with the souls of creatures around them, informing these dragons of where and what life forms are near. These solitary creatures use this ability to evade others and watch from a distance, staying out of sight or soaring high up in the air. As they have a tendency to “see” and appreciate souls more than the actual wielders of said souls, they are rather detached in terms of emotional and personal connections. Though some tell stories of their anger and sorrow being washed away by these dragons or being freed from weariness, this is not out of inherent goodwill; they simply prefer the feeling of peaceful souls. While hard to anger, a Lihnseyre Dragon, once enraged, will unleash powerful magic to sever the soul tether—the connection between a being’s material body and its extra-planar soul—of the offender and effectively end their life with cold indifference.

Appearance/Basic Anatomy

  • Reflective, smooth scales cover the entire body. There are faint markings of darker orange in swirling patterns.
  • Large enough to be comfortably left in peace in most environments.
  • A silky reddish mane begins at the top of the head and down the length of the body to the tail, gradually tapering.
  • Have four digits and a thumb on the front legs, and four digits on the hind legs.
  • Eyes are pale blue and often unreadable.
  • Possess a set of large antlers with numerous branches. Protrusions framing the stone on the tail are also antler-like in texture.
  • Tendrils sprouting near the base of the head act as amplifiers for their soul-feeling ability, always floating and waving unless in particularly bad condition.
  • Prongs near the shoulders and hips are especially rich in mana, along with the faintly glowing stone on the tail, which glows bright when the dragon uses a lot of magic and turns dull at its death.

Hatchling Behavior

  • Hatchlings are carried by their parents until they can fly long distances on their own.
  • As it is rare to have siblings, they play by traversing their parents’ backs or climbing their antlers.
  • If they meet hatchlings of other breeds, they get alarmed by attempts to playfight and retaliate with a genuine attack.
  • Their soul-feeling ability starts off weak and becomes stronger as they grow, completely developing by the time their tendrils grow in.
  • Absorb mana directly from their parents until they’re old enough to be taught how to find mana sources.
  • Can be conspicuous when “observing” souls, often caught staring at other creatures.

Adult Behavior

  • Generally neutral and serene.
  • Can know creatures’ locations, general emotions, species, and elements from their souls.
  • Avoid company, but are not adverse to being spotted; can sometimes be seen in the open air or water.
  • Do not mind other dragons or humans in their habitat. Cassares are warned or chased off due to their magic-nullifying abilities.
  • Enjoy “watching” souls; will spend time going over the information they receive and pick out favorites.
  • Can recognize individuals from their souls, but less capable of identifying individuals visually.
  • Tend to be disengaged and not emotionally expressive.
  • Parents take turns carrying their eggs and hatchlings. This is the only period of time in which two adult Lihnseyres actively stay in close proximity. They do not mate for life.

Habitat

  • Able to survive in most places.
  • Prefer places with numerous life forms.
  • Inhabit a very wide area, but don’t mind territories overlapping.
  • Do not keep nests, even while raising eggs or hatchlings.

Diet

  • Live almost entirely off of mana.
  • Omnivorous with a preference to fruits, but only eat non-mana food when they have to.
  • Do not need much to survive, as they spend most of their time cruising in the air or water.
