Official descriptions[]

Egg[]

A fine mist rolls over this cool, scaly egg.

Hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has begun to mimic your voice, and studies your habits intently.

Mature hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has begun to mimic your voice, and studies your habits intently.

And look! It’s grown larger and its antlers are coming in. It must be close to maturing!

Adult[]

Kohraki Dragons silently stalk their prey, concealed within the thick, rolling fog that blankets autumn forests. They prey on the lost and unwary, luring them close by mimicking familiar voices and sounds before swallowing them whole, leaving no trace behind. Bustling, warm villages have been left silent and cold after particularly foggy nights, their inhabitants having fallen prey to swarms of Kohraki Dragons. After, these dragons disappear as quickly as they come, leaving behind only unease and footprints.

Appearance/Basic Anatomy

  • Predominantly orange with dark green underwings; females’ underwings typically have a blue or purplish tint.
  • Both males and females sport fur on their chests, throats, and tails.
  • Kohrakis are lean and tall, with strong and well-muscled necks.
  • Both genders possess large antlers. Males have straighter antlers while females have upward-curving antlers.
  • Their jaws unhinge to swallow prey.
  • They walk on all four legs; their wings double as forelegs.
  • Their hind feet have some grasping ability, allowing them to carry prey aloft.

Hatchling Behavior

  • Hatchlings are born flightless, and prey on small mammals and reptiles.
  • They try to mimic their surroundings at an early stage, chirping after every sound they hear, though their vocal cords haven’t fully developed yet.
  • Hatchlings stay close together in small groups inside tree trunks and in abandoned burrows.
  • Once their wings grow larger, they begin to fly and hunt larger prey such as small deer.
  • By the time they can fly, their vocal cords are almost fully developed and the hatchlings can mimic most animal calls that they have heard to hunt.
  • Hatchlings that can fly become nomadic and begin to move under the cover of the fog rather than hide.

Adult Behavior

  • Adults are usually solitary for most of the year.
  • Solitary adults stay away from large groups and hunt only isolated animals.
  • During mating seasons, individuals congregate to form large groups of ten to twenty individuals each.
  • These large groups of Kohraki are braver and venture further out into forests, having enough individuals to safely prey on large herds of animals and human settlements.
  • After mating, females find empty tree trunks and burrows and lay their eggs within.

Habitat

  • Kohrakis live in temperate montane forests, especially in valleys where fog is likeliest to form.
  • Kohrakis spread out to more areas in autumn, when fog is more common and when they camouflage better due to the warm colors of foliage at this time.
  • Adult kohrakis don’t build any dens of their own, but they tend to rest where the trees are denser.
  • Hatchlings will climb trees to find a natural hollow to nest in, even if it means kicking out the current occupant.

Diet

  • Kohrakis are carnivores; they will refuse vegetation.
  • Prey that can be swallowed whole is preferred.
  • They have been known to drop prey from heights to kill it, particularly prey that fights back.
  • Humans are more common in a kohraki’s diet when the weather begins to get colder, as other prey becomes scarcer and harder to catch.

Trivia[]

  • TJ09 reserved three dragons for the release with codes "ZOMBE", "TOWER", and "DEFNS" as a reference to the Rise of the Zombies mini-game that was part of the 2019 Halloween event. [1]
  • The name "Kohraki" is based off of the Hindi word for fog, "kohra".[2]
