Heartseeker Dragons were the all-male Holiday species given out during Valentine's Day of 2012. They are only capable of producing more Heartseeker eggs during a certain period when Valentine's Day is celebrated in February. They can still be bred to all year round, producing the female's breed of egg. Each scroll/account is currently limited to 2 CBs of this breed, like all other Valentine's Day dragons.

Under the old Breed sort, these dragons sorted as "Valentine 2012 Dragon" on a user's scroll. As of August 14, 2016, they now sort using their Encyclopedia name.

"Heartseeker Dragons are very social creatures that emanate a sweet chocolatey scent. Their captivating perfume easily attracts adult dragons that don't yet have a mate. Heartseekers use their keen sense of smell to detect solitary dragons and potential mates in the area. By rubbing their fins against objects such as trees and rocks, they leave a scent trail for the other dragons to follow to meet each other. Although these dragons are seen year-round, the scent of a Heartseeker becomes particularly potent during the middle of February. During this time, a single Heartseeker may play matchmaker to dozens of dragons, but he will also choose a special mate of his own."

Appearance/Basic Anatomy

• Predominantly red with chocolate-brown fins and pale heart-shaped scutes.
• Very muscular and physically strong.
• Fins are flexible enough to allow for limited glides.
• Gives off an alluring chocolatey scent from a natural musk.
• Shiny gold antlers and claws.
• No elemental breath of any kind.
• Breed is exclusively male.
• Individuals with wine-colored hides and blue fins have been reported.

Hatchling Behavior

• Hate to be alone, will be mopey if no other hatchlings are around.
• Love to be the center of attention.
• Displays herding behavior to group hatchlings together.
• Usually the dominant hatchling in a group.
• Become agitated if other dragons are alone.

• Begin to preen daily near maturity.

Adult Behavior

• Failing to make a match correctly is upsetting, but they will try the same pair once more if there was no violence.
• Two adults never overlap territory to avoid confusing other dragons who cannot differentiate between their scents.

Habitat

• Can be found all over the world—though not often.
• Scarcer in overly moist areas due to water washing off their scent.
• Build large lairs to accomodate numerous visitors.
• Lair must be close to multiple sources of food and water.
• Lair frequently has areas devoted to different purposes, such as communal meetings, eating, and sleeping.
• Lair can be several different varieties of terrain, such as a cave, meadow, or oasis.

• Will resort to violence if dealing with an unwelcome intruder.

Diet

• Omnivorous, will eat almost anything.
• Other dragons frequently share food with him.
• Sharing and slow metabolism mean that they rarely has to find their own food.
• Avoid plants and spices with strong odors and will not scavenge meat.
• Need a lot of water to produce enough musk.
• If dehydrated, will quickly start to look ill.
• Enjoys oily fish as a treat.
• Strong, persistent odors in food may interfere with the musk.

As mentioned in their description - Heartseekers are very social. Other dragons are attracted to their scent, so they are usually the life of the party, so to speak. Despite their muscular physique, they are quite soft-hearted and sensitive under their tough-looking exterior.

In addition to other dragons, prey is often attracted to a Heartseeker's scent, making hunting easier both for him and other dragons in the area. The scent can be detrimental as it may also attract predators. However, a Heartseeker is physically strong enough to deter most threats through brute force if necessary, in addition to potentially having a posse of other dragons protecting him.

The Heartseeker's unique scent comes from a musky liquid excreted from glands on his back, near the spines of his fins. Much like a preening bird, the Heartseeker rubs this liquid all over his fins during routine grooming sessions, replenishing anything lost if he has left scent trails. Scent trails usually fade after a few days, but they will disappear faster in the rain.

When a Heartseeker meets a new dragon, he uses his keen sense of smell to find their den. If the dragon lives alone, and no other dragon scents are nearby, he will conclude that the dragon likely does not have a mate. Using a musky scent trail, he will often lead two mate-less dragons to each other. However, this does not guarantee they will get along.

Each Heartseeker's scent is a little different, which helps them identify each other. They tend to avoid each other, as other creatures may not be able to tell their scents apart. This would potentially cause confusion if two Heartseekers crossed paths while leading dragons to meet each other.

The heart belly scales are based on white chocolate. I am guessing TJ chose those codes since I showed him a few different variations, and we picked the "white chocolate" one. (The scales were originally pink but this looks much better, trust me.)
