Official descriptions[]

Egg[]

An aura of serenity surrounds this iridescent egg.

Hatchling[]

Aww...it's a cute baby dragon. You feel at peace when it comes near you.

Mature hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. You feel at peace when it comes near you.

And look! It has grown a beautiful mane! It must be close to maturing.

Adult[]

Venturis Dragons are a peaceful breed that reside in cooler regions toward the bases of mountains where they can raise their young without the threat of predators drawing too close. They are known for their ability to sense distress, and use telepathy—coupled with a strong sense of empathy—to solve disputes. It is commonly believed that interacting with a Venturis dragon will bring a future of good fortune. They are also known as Heralds of Tranquility in olden lore. Despite their seemingly elusive nature, Venturis Dragons have often been spotted near villages torn apart by war and destruction.

Appearance/Basic Anatomy

  • Have iridescent, pearly scales with a purple tint that match the egg.
  • Scales are small and lie flat against the body.
  • Adults have long whiskers on either side of their snouts that end with tiny, transparent orbs.
  • Wingless, but capable of flight via usage of magic.
  • Have one set of blue eyes.
  • Tails are fairly slender and have a tuft of gold fur at the tip.
  • Males have larger antlers with more branches than females, and have a thick golden mane that develop as they start to mature.
  • Have four toes with short claws.

Hatchling Behavior

  • Not very social, but will interact when approached.
  • Nap in cool, shaded areas often.
  • Tend to shy away from aggressive play.
  • Will watch other hatchlings and adults and learn by copying their behavior.
  • Will wander off alone to find a mate and/or group to join once they reach young adult age.

Adult Behavior

  • Very calm in times of danger.
  • Males flaunt their scales to impress females in the spring.
  • Known for assisting lost mountain travelers.
  • Both males and females will care for their young until they reach adulthood.
  • Are mute; they communicate only through telepathy.
  • Travel in groups of four to six.
  • Will attempt to reason with foe instead of fleeing when provoked.
  • When all else fails, Venturis dragons will circle predators and use their iridescent scales to create bright flashes and frighten said predators away, rather than harm them.

Habitat

  • Live in cool mountain regions.
  • Avoid densely populated areas.
  • Migrate to higher, colder ground shortly after eggs are laid in late spring.

Diet

  • Main source of nutrition comes from a diverse range of mountain vegetation.
  • As they live on a diet of mostly vegetation, they do not hunt.
