The Trick or Treat event is a recurring Halloween tradition on Dragon Cave, first occurring in 2010.
The first Trick or Treat event was announced by TJ09 with the following words on the forums:

- Trick or Treating
Quite a few treats (and some tricks as well) have been scattered throughout the site. Think you can collect all of them before Halloween is done?
Every five to fifteen minutes, a special trick or treat will appear on the next page. When clicked, a little pumpkin bucket would appear at the top of your scroll (if you didn't have it already), and you can click on it to see the tricks and treats you have collected.
Collecting treats[]
Collecting treats for Trick or Treat events follows the same mechanics as the Festival of Eggs. Below is a FoE guide provided by SockPuppet Strangler on the forums, reworded for the Trick or Treat event:
- Tricks and treats can be found anywhere on http://dragcave.net. The different habitats, abandoned page, badge pages, your scroll, wilderness, graveyard, etc.
- You don't have to hunt the treats down. They show up at a random time, at around 5-15 minute intervals.
- Refreshing and looking around more won't make the treats show up faster.
- You can see all the treats you've collected in your pumpkin bucket.
- The pumpkin bucket for the hunt is the same as the one from 2010. If you got a pumpkin bucket in a previous ToT event, this year's treats will be placed in there. There is a spooky border that separates last year's treats from this year's treats. (This year's treats are below last year's.)
- If you don't grab a treat as soon as it shows up, you don't lose the chance to get it. It will keep showing up until you've grabbed it.
- The treat will pop up on its own at a random time, whether you're browsing around the cave or just refreshing a random page.
- The next treat will not show up until you've grabbed the one already displaying in the cave.
- If treats are not showing up for you, make sure javascript is on, images are on, and you're logged in. If none of that works, try another browser. Some browsers have trouble with the event sometimes.
- The treats may not show up in the same spot as the ones before them. They may appear at the top, middle, or bottom of the page.
- Treats should be easy to spot. The treat pops up on whatever page you're viewing. To grab it, just click it.
Badges[]
The pumpkin bucket badges were made by Bernouli.
With subsequent Trick or Treat events, any user who participated in the event would retroactively receive the pumpkin badge to hold their treats. Users participating for multiple years can find all their treats under the pumpkin badge, with each year's treats separated by decorative borders.
