This soft egg is carefully nestled in feathers and snow.
Hatchling[]
Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is white and fluffy, and loves company.
Mature hatchling[]
Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is white and fluffy, and loves company.
And look! It has gotten bigger! It must be close to maturing.
Adult[]
Cloudplume Dragons are as warm and friendly as they look. Living in groups of ten to twenty, these dragons make their home in snowy mountains, where their white feathers fit right in with the environment. During their waking hours, they spread out to fly all over the mountains and nearby plains and forests, collecting mana, exploring, and greeting whoever they happen to meet. When they need to rest, they return to the snowy slopes and curl up together. While a single Cloudplume can blast an air breath at attackers to make their escape, a group of Cloudplumes will stick close, feathers puffed up and the large feathers on their backs raised high and quivering, becoming one giant, bristling mass to intimidate the attacker away from their home. Smaller creatures—and some not so small—often get in between the resting dragons for warmth and protection, and the Cloudplumes welcome such guests. During summertime, these dragons fly higher up to the mountaintops where the air stays cool, mingling with the clouds.
Are covered entirely with soft white feathers. The face and feet are covered in much shorter feathers, giving a smoother appearance.
Antlers are a dark, desaturated greyish brown and jut forward from the skull shortly before curving backwards. Branches develop as they mature.
The two pairs of long feathers on the back can be raised or lowered, and are used for threatening, expressing strong emotions, and impressing potential mates.
The tail plumes and four large back feathers faintly shimmer with iridescence when the dragon is full of mana.
Have four toes and a thumb on the front paws and four toes on the hind paws. Each feet has pink pads.
Eyes are blue and rarely have a faint purple or green tint.
Their instinctual control of air magic allows them to hold warm or cold air in their feather layers accordingly to maintain comfortable body temperatures.
Teeth are pointed and surprisingly sharp, mostly for defense. Claws are less sharp, more fit for digging through snow and clutching rocky surfaces.
Hatchling Behavior
Very affectionate. Love rubbing against and cuddling with who they like.
Easily become lonely without enough company around.
Like active play with other hatchlings. Any harmless object can easily become a toy.
Depend on adults to bring them food and protect them.
Are highly curious; can sometimes be seen clustered around an unknown thing to inspect it.
After they mature, some stay with the flock while some migrate together to form a new group with other migrating Cloudplumes.
Adult Behavior
Social and friendly; anyone who doesn’t want to hurt them is a potential friend.
Live in a group of ten to twenty, excluding young hatchlings. Some call the group a flock.
Converse telepathically, but can express emotions and basic intent through a variety of sounds, including roars, whistles, chirps, and croons.
Lively and inquisitive when they’re wide-awake; often set out to investigate new people, places, and objects in their surroundings.
Surprisingly easy-going and relaxedly pleasant despite their physically active nature.
Enjoy flying; love to fly in loops or patterns, or engage in coordinated flight with their groupmates.
Become languid after their energy is spent; lie on rocks to sunbathe or nestle closely with each other to sleep.
Pairs mate for life and take care of their young until they’re fully mature. All adult members of the flock help with raising hatchlings.
Habitat
Live in snow-covered mountains. The group finds a flat area or a valley for a place to sleep together.
Can be spotted exploring in any area near their mountain.
Dig a hole in compact snow and line it with molted feathers for eggs and hatchlings. Use caves and space between rocks if available.
Diet
Absorb and chew on mana.
Take some interest to humans’ sweet baked goods, but can’t handle much.

- They'd love plushies. Hatchlings especially would absolutely adore them. I guess it'd be a stuffed doll in canon DC setting? - The tail plumes and the two pairs of large feathers on their backs faintly shimmer with iridescence when the dragon is full of mana. It's a sort of surplus magic. I wonder if you can see a hint of it on the sprite? - Their actual body is not really fat or bulky; the thick feather coat and air magic provides enough warmth, so they don't have much need for extra body fat. - Always happy to provide snuggles for their friends. They love snuggles. - This is what I imagine their size to be. It's a size chart for all of my released breeds. (pls excuse the doodle-ness)
