Chickens, or Gallus gallus domesticus, are an original species found on Dragon Cave. They were originally released on June 2, 2007, alongside Bright Pink, Gold and Neglected Dragons. Chickens are creatures as opposed to being dragons. They are always female, and therefore cannot breed.

Hatchling Behavior
- Chicks are extremely fluffy before feathers grow in.
Adult Behavior
- Appears to be fully domesticated.
- No roosters seen, only hens.
- Due to the lack of roosters, hens lay unfertilized eggs.

- The original egg description was: "This egg is a third the size of the other eggs."
- Chickens have a unique kill message: "You stab the chicken and roast it over a fire."
- TJ has stated he is a fan of the Harvest Moon games, and these pets are a nod to them. The original chicken sprite is the same as the one from Harvest Moon GB
- Chickens are the only creature to display the same sprite for both hatchling stages.
- Under legacy breed sort, Chickens sort alphabetically as "Chicken" on users' scrolls (placed among the dragons and drakes rather than the back), instead of their encyclopedia name.
- Fan theories to explain the presence of chickens in dragons' caves have sparked unique breeding projects on the forum, including the Ninja Chickens and Space Chickens. However, information on the Encyclopedia suggests that they are ordinary domesticated chickens, albeit mysteriously all-female.
