Brumous Dragons were released on July 28, 2024, alongside Seraph Dragons.
Official descriptions[]
Egg[]
This egg’s glittering shell sometimes gets lost in fog.
Hatchling[]
Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. A wispy vapor seems to follow this playful hatchling everywhere it goes.
Mature hatchling[]
Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. A wispy vapor seems to follow this playful hatchling everywhere it goes.
And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Adult[]
It is generally only the sudden onset of a creeping fog that signals the presence of a Brumous Dragon, for these creatures are as silent as the weather phenomena that so often accompany them. However, this mysteriously lovely breed is not nearly as ominous as their hazy shroud makes them out to be, as their kind-hearted nature leaves them incapable of ignoring a creature lost in the desolate regions they call home. The glowing mana crystals on the ends of their tails have been known to serve as beacons for lost souls, guiding the helpless out of all manner of storms and other weather hazards to safety. These dragons are capable travelers, using the night sky to map their location and traverse the landscapes.

Encyclopedia entry[]
Appearance/Basic Anatomy
- Primarily covered in a thick fur that gives way to feathered wings.
- Most Brumous Dragons are two toned; they often have white underbellies and a mantle that ranges from grey to blue to black.
- Small star-like patterns on the dark parts of their coats glimmer in the light, and are nearly imperceptible in the dark.
- Leucistic and melanistic individuals have been seen, but they are incredibly rare.
- Tail crystals can vary in color and are dependent on each individual’s magical capabilities; most are yellow or orange, but some can be white or even blue. The color of each individual’s light is based on their crystal color.
- They grow more mana crystals on their tails as they age. These crystals are always on the ends of their tails.
- Their noses are incredibly soft, reminiscent of a horse’s.
- Young hatchlings are often pure white. Their coats darken as they age.
Hatchling Behavior
- Young hatchlings take advantage of their light coloring to avoid unwanted attention, using the snow of their home regions to their advantage.
- Hatchlings are unable to manifest light through their tail crystals, yet they still mimic their parents and learn to carry their tails comfortably.
- Unable to control their magic; they often have small fog clouds that form around them unintentionally, and dissipate at random.
- Incredibly playful and inquisitive.
Adult Behavior
- Adults often hide their eggs in caves and along ridgelines, where the darker coloration can be easily hidden.
- Quiet, and prefer not to speak unless necessary; when they do choose to communicate with others, they prefer to do so via tail signals.
- Will make gentle whuffle and huffing sounds at their offspring.
- Light is often projected from their tails during inclement weather or darkness.
- Each Brumous Dragon carries their tail in a unique fashion to best make use of their light, with the growth of their crystals affecting this.
- They are doting parents, and will often take care of offspring well into adulthood.
- Can manipulate the atmosphere around them and often create fog to obscure unwanted attention.
- Will create intense blizzards or sandstorms when threatened.
Habitat
- They prefer vast and secluded areas, living in mountainous regions, forested valleys, and large desert expanses.
- They prefer to congregate in areas that are naturally predisposed to chilly, foggy conditions.
- They are willing to travel great distances when guiding someone and will often stay in a new area for a brief amount of time to sightsee.
Diet
- They have a heavy preference for vegetation, but are adept hunters.
- Love natural sweets such as honey, berries, and fruit.
- Overly fond of peppers.
- Open to trying new things, and often venture out of their dietary comfort zone during their travels.
Additional information[]
“
- I saw mention in the discords that at least the glittering egg looked like a Winter Holiday, and they were indeed created as such for 2022 :) I only submitted them the one time though, and submitted them instead as a normal with a small description tweak, as they honestly just feel too small of a sprite for a holiday to me and I was not happy with my attempts to upscale them. However, they work perfectly in size for a normal, so I am glad to see them now~
Here was the very first sketch I ever made of them, but I quickly refined the design to include a longer tail with the glowing crystal concept and removed the gold markings. The diamond like marks on the shoulder were removed once I started spriting, and the glittering star marks on the adult was a finishing touch ^.^
