Official descriptions[]

Egg[]

Mana courses throughout this glassy egg.

Hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. But... where are its legs?

Mature hatchling[]

Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. But... where are its legs?

And look! It has gotten bigger and is now able to use magic. It must be close to maturing.

Adult[]

Originating from a single species that thrived in ancient times, Xenowyrms have become an incredibly diverse breed whose appearances vary depending on their habitats. Each Xenowyrm subspecies is heavily reliant on the power of different types of mana, making them powerful magic users. Aquilo live high in the firmament and are almost never seen on the ground. They are all too happy to greet travelers going through the mountains, and also seeing their panic as the Aquilos dive from great heights towards them, only to change course at the last moment and soar back into the sky. Many Aquilo enjoy testing their agility and mastery of air magics in dangerous feats of flying at one another, only to twist and harmlessly pass one another in intricate patterns. They try, with little success, to get the more foul-tempered Astrapi to join in their games.

Breeding[]

Xenowyrms are capable of producing any Xenowyrm variety when bred. Which variety will be produced is influenced by the Xenowyrm parent's variety and the biome of a non-Xenowyrm partner.[1]

Aquilo Xenowyrm x non-Xenowyrm (from biome) may produce:

  • Aquilo Xenowyrm
  • Non-Xenowyrm parent's breed
  • One of the Xenowyrm varieties found in the non-Xenowyrm parent's biome

Aquilo Xenowyrm x non-Xenowyrm (bred, Market, or Cave biome) may produce:

  • Aquilo Xenowyrm
  • Non-Xenowyrm parent's breed
  • Any of the other Xenowyrm varieties

Aquilo Xenowyrm x Xenowyrm may produce:

  • Aquilo Xenowyrm
  • Partner Xenowyrm's variety
  • Any of the other Xenowyrm varieties

Additionally a Staterae Xenowyrm can be produced when breeding any Xenowyrm to another Xenowyrm or to a non-Xenowyrm dragon.

Xenowyrm 5th anniversary

Exactly five years ago (well, from the posting of this thread, anyhow!) -- June 27th, 2015 -- the original Xenowyrms were released.

The Gaia, Astrapi, Chrono, Pyro, Thalassa, and Mageia were those six wyrm children that were released upon Galsreim!

I genuinely never really thought that they would come to be enjoyed so much, especially five whole years later.

I hope you guys enjoy the new six to complete the elemental set: the Umbra, Aquilo, Obidar, Ke'maro, Aso, and Pharos. Some are friendly, some are not-so-friendly. 🙂

And... of course, the big wyrm in the room: the Staterae Xenowyrm, the original ancient dragon that branched off into all the different subspecies we have today.

It's been really fun reading the thread, and seeing the discussion in Discord about these guys and this release. (And the surprise when someone bred the first Staterae...!)

I'm glad to have the opportunity to create these dragons, and I look forward to seeing what cool lineage projects you all have in mind going forward!

So to wrap up... I just wanted to say, thank you for making the five-year anniversary of the Xenowyrms special!
